PIPAC: Research and Counceling in Giftedness
By Africa Borges
“Giftedness is a phenomenon that can produce several problems, like under achievement, asynchronies, and relationship problems with schoolmates and friends, difficult relationships with parents and teachers, and so on. It may be necessary to treat these difficulties, helping children to adapt into their personal world.
Last year we studied, with qualitative research, the phenomenological world of gifted children. Now we are working in the PIPAC (Integral Program for High Capacities)
The PIPAC is a program to improve family relationships, personal adjustment and achievement. There is a parent training program and a program for gifted children between 4 and 14 years old.
PIPAC will be evaluated with several procedures, in a formative and summative evaluation.”
